Presentations 2008
The OPAG board's highest priority is to provide insightful demonstrations for the OPAG members and to encourage an open exchange of artistic ideas. However without an audience to benefit from the quest presenter there is little need to continue the program. If anyone has any suggestions to improve the program it is their obligation as an OPAG member to voice those ideas. If anyone is interested in taking a more active role in the future development of OPAG's demonstrations, please contact Stephen Olson at sloartist@yahoo.com.
March 18th 2008, 7 PM; Art Follows Technology with Howard Kline
People have been asking me for over 35 years if I can paint “that painting” on a canvas or if I can paint it smaller or larger? Unfortunately the answer is a resounding “NO”. With my spontaneous style of painting it is literally impossible for me to copy my own work. Enter, technology, my new best friend. Watercolor lends itself perfectly to be reproduced as oil on canvas or reproduced for larger or smaller variations of my work in either medium. Now I can offer “that painting” any way you want it. My giclee reproductions on paper or canvas in any of my sizes are absolute replicas of my original paintings and are mastered to feature the same color and brilliance of the original. This informal conversation with Howard about the new ideas he has incorporated into his art portfolio that have increased sales will help you enlarge your own client and sales base. With a keen eye, he can help you decide which images to use to bring your work to a larger audience.

April 15th, 7 PM; Guest Artist - Chet Amyx
The April presenter will be Chet Amyx, local painter and Cuesta art teacher. Chet has said that he has never focused on one media or style. “Partly because of the nature of working with students and trying to get them to experiment and think creatively "outside the box". But also I enjoy the search for new approaches that stem from observing and being responsive to all things found and made, especially old things. And that is not because I am getting old, although nostalgia might have something to do with it.” Chet will present a mixed medium demonstration incorporating pastels acrylic and oil sticks while creating an expressive figurative work.
